A Story Of An Eagle Who Was Trying To Be A Chicken

. . . on a small peaceful lake island, there lived a kind, good-hearted and pleasant old farmer. One day, while he was walking in the mountain forest, gathering mushrooms, he saw an egg lying on the ground. His eyes were already weak, so he saw it as a chicken egg from his farm. The coyotes were common in this area, who were regularly stealing eggs from his farm. He thought, that they have lost one lucky egg. He took it back to his farm and placed it into the chicken nest. But what a blind eye could not notice, there was an eagle nest above the place where he found the egg. And so an eagle was born into the chicken family.

Eagle hatched He was different since the first day. He had far more energy than all the others. He was always running around, he was the most independent, he was the first one to find his own food… In his childhood he was really bored with doing the normal chicken stuff, just hanging around the farm, digging for worms and pieces of corn . . . so he was always trying something new, climbing everywhere, had crazy ideas about flying, . . .
That’s why he was often in trouble, as many clumsy accidents had happened to him. The grown-up chickens often punished him. They told him all the time: “Why can’t you stay still at least for a minute?”, “Why do you always get in trouble?”, “Why do you always have to have the dirtiest feet?” He didn’t know why, and was deeply sad, that the older chickens were disappointed and sometimes angry at him. He was always trying really hard to be as others were, but he simply couldn’t manage it.

Chicken SchoolThe years have passed and one year on autumn came the time, when he had to go to chicken school. The things they were learning were s000o boooooring for him, he was always doing something else; talking during classes, drawing, not doing homework’s, skipping classes, not making notes, playing with something. He always wanted to fly, to be free, but they just kept telling him, that it’s not possible and that it is stupid and dangerous idea. He was a teacher’s nightmare, because even the educated chickens were blind for his difference, sad fact isn’t it? Instead of noticing his difference, they were trying to make him a normal chicken, he was always asked, “Why can’t you be like all the others?” they punished him for his difference. He was always trying to be like all the others, as he didn’t like to be in trouble, but no matter how hard he tried, no matter how many punishments he received, no matter how sad and disappointed the older chickens were with him, no matter how many bad grades he received,. . . he just couldn’t be like they demanded him to be, and he couldn’t understand why this is happening?

Good Fish Or Bad ChickenIt was a frustrating life for him, although he never had problems with passing exams and the other chickens saw him as successful, he never felt like that, how could he, when all the chickens around him were telling him, why this, why that, why the fuck everything!…? Because he was always in trouble, he started hanging around with some bad chickens, he started using magic worms. It felt good, as he can easily forget the world, which is trying to change him and can’t accept his difference. That brought him into even more trouble with the USC (United States of Chickens) authorities.

Chicken FriendsAll tough his chicken friends really liked him, because of his difference, he didn’t feel it, as he should, he still felt alone, as most of his friends, just couldn’t understand his sayings and actions sometimes, and they were hurt by; thoughts and actions, even he him self couldn’t understand. Hurting his friends was really difficult to accept for him. He was often told “It’s really not nice to say/do that to someone, you know?” He knew, he knew good, that he shouldn’t, but he just couldn’t control him self in some situations. He never meant to hurt anyone, and hurting other people was just the cruelest punishment for him, but why he cannot control saying/doing things he didn’t mean to say, do. He was already totally disappointed over life; he felt that he will never manage to fit in, . . . no matter how hard he will be trying.

But than one spring everything changed for him. He was walking with his fellow chickens on the beach on a warm sunny day, gathering food. It was near sunset that day and they were returning home, when he saw a bird in the sky, looking very similar to him. He was amazed when he saw it flying, so free. He was totally amazed by watching it.

Now he realized his difference, the difference which was so obvious, but nobody ever noticed. He felt relieved, as he finally understood why he can not be like all the others and that it is possible to fly. But he was also angry, disappointed and sad, as all his life nobody on the island noticed the difference and that he suffered so much, hurt so many friends, just because the chicken doctors and teachers were blind for his difference, which was so obvious.

But who can truly blame them, there are not many eagles on the Island, maybe they have never seen one, so how could they know? And who has the time and the energy to wast on that? It’s just senseless. . .Besides, they are very busy with their chicken business, and it is much easier to punish than to understand, is it not?

Eagle Flying Into SunsetBut now the young eagle knows, that flying is possible. He understands his behavior and now his friends understand him better and he is able to send this message to everyone he knows.
Because there are other eagles out there in the worlds of Earth, who are trying hopelessly to be good chickens, but no matter how hard they are trying, they will always be lousy chickens . . .

I know you might also know some eagles and I also know that you may find it in your heart and help me find them, make them realize . . .
that you were meant to be flying.

And the lyrics of this song are a strong reflection of my sensations and feelings in the true inner freedom process which started with this story I wrote in 2008.

Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction is holding me fast,
How can I escape this irresistible grasp?

Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, I

Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought, I thought of everything
No navigator to find my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension — that’s learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try

Can’t keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

There’s no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss

Can’t keep my mind from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I

Fucking Awesome Lyrics,
freedom song in the story
love it

Thank you for Lyrics
